About this site
Trying to define what I do on this blog is tough. I would, first and foremost, describe myself as someone unapologetically interested in dissecting what it means to be human, whether through existentialism, theology, philosophy of mind and consciousness, biology, physics, chemistry, literature, culture, politics, economics, history, or any relevant topic. All thoughts utilised serve to answer the question: "What does it mean to be a human being?"
This journey is inherently interdisciplinary. I view philosophy less as a "stand-alone" discipline, and rather as a branch that reaches into the underpinnings of all human thought. Due to this, I possess strong knowledge of many different topics, and will attempt to showcase my worldview through every post on this blog.
Our Team
Here is a bit of information about me and my incredible team, all of us collaborate to work hard on this project, and bring good philosophical discourse to the forefront of social media!

My real name is Ahmed Helmy, but I go to the pseudonym Ahmed Iskander for 3 main reasons:
1. There is an incredibly famous Egyptian actor called Ahmed Helmy, had I gone by my name, I would have never stood a chance!
2. My great-great Grandfather was called Iskander, he was originally a Coptic Christian, and converted to Islam against the wishes of his family. This led him to being stripped of his last name, and thrown into the Egyptian desert. Cool story. Cool guy.
3. Iskander is the Coptic version of Alexander, I am a massive fan of Alexander the Great and have read countless history books on him, so its a personal homage.
I am currently studying for my bachelors at the University of Exeter in Philosophy, I aim to pursue a Masters and PhD in Philosophy and possibly gain an academic post, though this depends on how all these content ventures turn out, but that is the current "Plan A".

Liv is currently our operations manager, in other words she is saving my arse. I have a lot of ambition – possibly too much – but very little direction or discipline. She helps me out immensely with managing my time, focusing on specific projects, organizing our interviews and managing our backlog.
She is currently reading History for her bachelors, also at the University of Exeter.

Luca is an integral part of our project here, as our head of Cinematography & Digital Aesthetics, he is the creative brain behind all the videos we plan to release.
He manages colour tones, shot ideas, video ideas and makes sure all of our videos are of the highest order quality. Luca is studying for his Bachelors in Film & Television Production at Royal Holloway, University of London.
(He is also my oldest, and best friend, big ups to Luca.)
